As a member of Salford City Libraries, you can access a wealth of Online Reference Sources.

Encyclopaedia Britannica is designed for adults and A-level students.

Britannica Student is designed for high school students.

Just select one of the links below and type in your 8-digit library card number (ignore the "p" at the start) prefixed by SAL.
(For example, if your library card number is p01234567 you need to type in SAL01234567).

Current, useful and UK-specific reference information from over 100 of the most widely used reference publications in the UK.
NewsUK
68 of the most popular national and regional British newspaper titles in one database.
Ancestry.com
Invaluable information if you are researching your family history. Access is free and there no need to log in only if you are using a computer at the library. You'll need a subscription if you want to access this from your home computer.
